Gary HooverGary L.
Hoover 72, of Highlands Ranch, and formerly of Tipton, died Monday,
November 2, 2009. He was born October 20, 1937 in Tipton, to Carmel
Wayne and Virginia Ruth (Mitchell) Hoover as the second of six
children, four boys and two girls. After graduating from Tipton High School in
1955, Gary earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue
University and entered the banking industry. Over the next 36
years, his dedicated leadership left a mark on the U.S. Department
of Treasury as well as on several banks, including: American
Fletcher (Indianapolis, IN), Farm Credit Administration (St. Louis,
MO) and CoBank (Denver, CO). Deeply routed in the areas of credit
examinations, both domestic and international, Gary had spent time
in the four corners of the world numerous times before he retired in
1995.In retirement Gary loved his outings in the
Rocky Mountains, season tickets for Colorado University football and
long opinion-swapping lunches with close friends. However, nothing
competed with the beautiful colors of an Indiana fall. It always
remained the most impressive spectacle in his heart. A staunch
supporter of Purdue University he was a long time member of the
Purdue Presidents Council, John Purdue Club and Purdue Alumni
Association. He is survived by a son and daughter, Page
(Nicole) Hoover of Fort Wayne, and Missy (Jim) Carfield of Venice,
Florida.; three grandchildren, Hayden Hoover, Gavin & Paige Carfield;
