Fred Leon DeWitt, 72 of Sharpsville, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo. He was born August 22, 1942 in Kokomo to Kenneth Leon & Juanita Pearl (Roler) DeWitt. Fred married Darleen Marie Elston on October 18, 1970 and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2001.
Fred worked for G.M. and Delphi. He was a Tipton High School graduate class of 1961. Fred was a member of the National Muzzle Loaders Riffle Association, the NRA and the UAW. He served his country in the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his daughter, Alisha Martin and husband Kevin, Placentia, California; his mother, Juanita DeWitt, Tipton; a brother Gary DeWitt of Hartford, Connecticut; brother-in-law, Darrel Elston and wife Christina, Tipton; nieces and nephews, Lindsay Timm, Bryan, Derek, and Aubree Elston.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
