Fred Grant King IIFred Grant King II, 81, Tipton, died at 5:10 a.m. on
Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Tipton Hospital. He was born in
Youngstown, Ohio on August 3, 1925, to Lee H. & Hazel B. (McFarlin) King.
On May 23, 1978, he married Karen E. Austraw who survives.Mr. King graduated in 1948 from the Georgia Institute
of Technology with a B.S. degree in Industrial Management where he was a
member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was a registered engineer in
Ohio and Indiana and served as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Navy in
WWII and Korea.He spent thirty years in the steel industry starting
at U.S. Steel, moving to Youngstown Sheet & Tube as the Chief Plant
Industrial Engineer, Youngstown District and retiring from Continental
Steel in Kokomo as the General Manager of Production Control. He was
President of King & Company, Inc. at the time of his death.Mr. King served as President of the Mahoning Valley
Technical Societies Council and as the Vice President of Region VI of the
American Institute of Industrial Engineers. He was a member of the
Youngstown Country Club, Columbia Club in Indianapolis, and a polo referee
for the Mahoning Valley Polo Club in Youngstown, Ohio and Longwood Polo
Club in Indianapolis.Survivors include his wife Karen, three daughters,
Martha Jean King, Washington D.C., Dr. Nancy Louise King (Douglas Martin),
Elmira, NY, Elizabeth Anne Battaglia (Charles), West Farmington, Ohio and
three sons, John Phillip Gordon King, Maryland, James Alan Fitch King
(Christine), Columbia, MO and William Roger Stewart King, Elmira, NY.
Seven grandchildren, Molly Bistarkey (Chris Anderson), Megan Cramer, Ian
Martin, Graham Martin, Katherine Battaglia, Nicholas King and Emily King.
Two great-grandchildren, Stephen Bistarkey and Zachary Anderson and a
niece, Patricia Scoville. A son, Fred Grant King III and a sister,
Carolyn Powell preceded him in death.Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton was in charge of
the arrangements. Mr. King was cremated and will be interred at the Fitch
Family Mausoleum in Belmont Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio at a later
