Florence Thompson Perry

Florence Thompson PerryFlorence M. Thompson Perry, 91, Tipton, died at 5:11 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2006 at Miller's Merry Manor.  She was born March 6, 1915 to Robert & Wilma (Driskell) Grimme.  She married Gerald "Ike" Thompson and he died February 22, 1987. After his death she later married Walter Perry who is also now deceased.Florence and Ike were the owners and operators of the Northside Grocery.  She belonged to West Street Christian Church and was a member of Phi Beta Psi Associate Chapter.Survivors include two daughters; Sharen Pontius and Karen Ripberger, both of Tipton; one brother, Meredith Grimme, Sharpsville, and one sister, Roberta Troyer of Plainfield.  Florence has five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Grimme and two sisters, Muriel Stroup and Edith Teter.Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation is from 2:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
