Emmett Don Keown, 80 of Windfall, died peacefully in his home at 9:07 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Emmett was born on February 24, 1937 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Fred & Rosie May (Brooks) Keown. He had lived in Homestead, Florida for 25 years, Brooksville, Florida for 2 years and Windfall for 20 years. Emmett married Carolyn J. Howell on January 21, 1956 and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2012.
Emmett retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, retiring in 1974. He then owned his own heating and cooling business. Emmett was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed farming, playing pool, playing cards and he loved to work. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved his grandkids. Emmett enjoyed helping others.
Survivors include five children, Lois Bastida, Boise, Idaho, Donald Keown and wife Cathy, Brooksville, Florida, Kim Keown, Boise, Idaho, Mark Keown, Homestead, Florida and James Keown and wife Lisa, Sharpsville; one sister, Jessie Sinning, Kokomo and one brother, Fred Keown and wife Joyce, Swayzee, a sister-in-law Carma Keown, Windfall, and a brother-in-law Dick Perrish, Anderson, Indiana. Emmett is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kristal Jaster and husband Brent, Jennifer Sy and husband John, Alisha Keown, Amanda Fenton, Bradly Keown, Ashley Keown, Chad Keown, Cheyanne Keown and Cierra Keown.
He was preceded in death by one son, Stevie Keown, two brothers and one sister, Elder Keown, Opal Perrish and Lindell Keown.
Funeral services for Emmett will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Brock presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
