Dorothy Eleanor SchweitzerDorothy Eleanor (Bidner) Schweitzer was born February 3, 1915 in
Manchester, Indiana; the daughter of Matilda (Schwear) Bidner and
Clements Charles Peter Bidner. She was brought to the Lord by
baptism that same month. She was confirmed on April 13, 1930
at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osman, Illinois.She graduated as the Valedictorian of the Bellflower (Illinois) High
School, Class of 1933. Dorothy worked as a secretary with the
Farm Service Administration in Paxton, Illinois and was later
promoted to Administrative Assistant to the State Director of the
Farm Service Administration in Champaign, Illinois. She was a
Red Cross volunteer making bandages for the troops during the Second
World War. Dorothy married Edwin Alvin Schweitzer on June 14, 1946
at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osman.She was a dedicated, loyal, hard working and loving wife and mother.
Dorothy cared generously for several family members in their
declining years in her home. She worked 16 years as a Nurse's
Aide at the Tipton County Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was a
faithful 64-year member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton, a
member of the choir, PTL and an active member of the Emanuel
Lutheran Ladies Aid. She was a 4-H mom and was active in the
Tipton County Farm Bureau and the Tipton County Historical Society.Dorothy reached the age of 95 years, 7 months and 17 days when she
passed away on September 19, 2010 at Tipton Hospital. She was
preceded in reaching Heaven by her parents, her brother John Henry
Bidner, and by her husband of 57 years, Edwin who died on August 17,
2003. Her victory in Christ is celebrated by all who knew and
loved her including her daughters Roberta Ann Schweitzer of
Westfield, Ellen Kay Schweitzer of West Lafayette, one son,
Lee Edwin Schweitzer of Tipton, one nephew, J. Gordon Bidner of
Carlock, Illinois, 3 grand-nephews and 7 great grand-nieces and
nephews.Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,
September 22 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Robb Roloff
presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Young-Nichols
Funeral Home and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church or
the program "Worship for Shut-ins", both through the church at 1385
S. Main Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072."Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ our
