Dona T. (Reecer) Savage, 95 of Tipton died at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Prairie Lake Health Campus in Noblesville. She was born January 9, 1918 in Celina, Tennessee to Hunter & Callie (Dunning) Reecer. On May 24, 1936 she married Luke Savage. He preceded her in death in September 1965.
Dona retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Tipton, New Hope Economics Club, Delco Goodtimers and the United Auto Workers Local 292. Dona enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, fishing, family gatherings and working at church functions.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Dean Gunning and husband Richard, Elwood; one son, Lester Melvin Savage and wife Barbara, Sheridan; two brothers, Bud Reecer, Lakeland, Florida and John Reecer and wife Janet, Greentown; one sister, Mollie Gayle Russel and husband Mike, Lafayette. She is also survived by four grandsons, Steve Inman and wife Cheryl, Sheridan, Scott Gunning and wife Eileen, Westfield, Captain Rodney Gunning, Swansboro, North Carolina, and Roger Gunning and wife Julie, Elwood.
Dona is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Hollie Carey and husband Pete, Corey Inman and wife Rachel, Brooke Timme and husband Kyle, Drake Gunning, Alexandra Gunning, Zachary Gunning and Chris Osborne; five great-grandchildren, Alexis Carey, Spencer Carey, Allison Carey, Jack Timme and Taylor Inman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Mary Reecer and four brothers, Jack Johnson, Lonnie Reecer, Everett Reecer and Avery Reecer.
Graveside services for Dona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Rex Dunning officiating and burial to follow. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
