Denny Wayne Butler, 84 of Tipton died at 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at IU Health Tipton Hospital. He was born on December 6, 1933 in Tipton to Clarence & Maggie (Miller) Butler. Denny married Sue Ann Miller on March 1, 1957 and she survives.
He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1989. Denny served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56 at the end of the Korean War. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church, loved playing golf, basketball and ping pong. He also enjoyed fishing. Denny loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors besides his wife Sue include two sons, Jeff Butler and wife Rae, Tipton and Brad Butler and his special friend Teresa, Tipton; three grandchildren, Brandi (Butler) Oddo, Brieanna Cook and Kyle Tilley and his wife Farren; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Landon, Payton, Davian and Wrigley.
Denny was preceded in death by three brothers, Maurice Butler, John Laverne Butler and Bob Butler and four sisters, Joyce (Butler) Moody, Marita (Butler) Ballard, Deloris “Dodi” (Butler) Powell and Virginia (Butler) Mellow
Funeral services for Denny will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Slack presiding. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 Tuesday. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with military honors.
