David Wesley Long, 70 of Tipton passed away at home on Monday, February 17, 2025. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 23, 1954 to Glen Randall & Wanda Jean (Goodman) Long. David married Darlena Davis on August 28, 1981 and they enjoyed 37 years together before her passing on October 6, 2018.
David worked as a butcher at Needler’s and before that Marsh in Tipton. Prior to that he worked at RPI, also in Tipton. David left high school early to join the U.S. Navy. He served from 1972-1975.
He loved outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and camping as well as playing video games. David was a family man who greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his two children, Demetre Long and girlfriend Dawn Seal of Tipton and Jeanne Long of Elwood; four siblings, Robert Long, Tipton, Ron Long and wife Debbie, Kokomo, Judy Long and husband A.P. of Indiana and Sue Long and husband John of the Bahamas as well as several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Long.
David’s funeral will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 21 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. The service will be led by a close family friend, John McShane. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton with military honors provided by the Tipton American Legion and the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
