Clifford Ray Acord, 83 of Tipton, and formerly of Kempton and Kokomo, died at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at I.U. Health Tipton Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on September 27, 1935 in Charter Oak, Missouri to William H. & Mary F. (Hunter) Acord. He was married to Linda (Tucker) Acord and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2018 after 24 years of marriage.
Cliff served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. Throughout Cliff’s life he was a hard working individual through his military service, various factory jobs, and gardening with his brother, Ralph. Cliff was well known for his produce stand under a great shade tree which he ran for for many years across from the Marsh Grocery location in Tipton, selling many vegetables which he grew himself. He also worked alongside his brother at another stand at St. Rd. 37 and St. Rd. 28 in Elwood and ran that stand after his brother’s death in 2006.
Cliff is survived by one sister, Belinda “Betty” Jones and husband J.B., Kokomo, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda; two brothers, Ralph Acord and Glenn Acord and one sister, Carolyn Sue Acord.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7 at Marion National Cemetery in Marion with military honors.
