Clayton Strong, 93 of Tipton died at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. He was born on January 6, 1924 in Moss, Tennessee to James Otis & Lillie (Johnson) Strong. He married Daffo Rich and she preceded him in death on December 1, 1999.
Clayton was a driver for Tipton Redi-Mix and he continued driving for the company after it became IMI, working for over 30 years. He also owned and worked at several antique stores and auction houses. Clayton enjoyed spending time with his friends at Burger King, especially Butch Netherton and Ruenell Anderson, both of Tipton. He also loved spending time with his nephews and nieces. Anyone who knew Clayton knew he loved to talk (a lot!) and go to auctions.
He is survived by a son, Rick Strong and wife Peg, Tipton; two grandchildren, Travis Strong and wife Rhonda, Ritchie Strong and wife Nikki, all of Tipton; two great-grand children, Kyrsten and Heather Strong. Clayton was preceded in death by four sisters, Versie Netherton, Jewell Smith, Berthie Sweezy, and Dimple Copas; three brothers, Caye Strong, J.L. Strong, and Calie Strong.
Clayton’s funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Speck presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service on Friday.
