Carolyn Josephine (Sandmann) Johnson, 91 of Tipton, died at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at her residence. She was born on April 16, 1927 in Hamilton County to Richard Frances & Anna Maude (Fritz) Sandmann. On September 3, 1950 she married Nolan Johnson and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1990.
Carolyn was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Jackson Central High School in Arcadia, Class of 1945. Carolyn enjoyed playing the piano. She also loved cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, LaVella M. Bills and husband Larry, Tipton, Patricia K. Roberts and husband Gary, Clearwater, Florida; four grandchildren, Lisa K. Roberts, Col. Shawn D. Roberts and wife Molly, Laura M. Terry and husband Matthew, Launa K. Hunt and husband Brian; 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor Waddell, Brian Waddell, Emily Waddell, Katherine Roberts, William Roberts, Edward Roberts, Taylor Hunt, Emily Hunt, Anthony Terry, Ashland Terry, and Adalyn Terry.
Carolyn’s funeral will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 20 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1385 S. Main Street, Tipton, with Rev. Dr. Robb Roloff presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday also, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions in Carolyn’s honor may be made to Worship Anew, a program that brings worship to shut-ins, at 5 Martin Luther Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46825 (www.worshipanew.org/donate) or Emanuel Lutheran Food Pantry at the church.
