Carolyn Sue Conaway, 79 of Tipton, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at her residence. She also lived in Kempton from 1937-1966. Carolyn was born in Tipton County on December 26, 1936 to Roma & Velma (Freeman) Straley. On June 6, 1954 she married Harry Earl Conaway and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2002.

Carolyn was a bookkeeper at Kokomo Heritage Federal Credit Union retiring in 2001. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Kokomo. Carolyn enjoyed making Christmas Candy and Ceramics. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Sue Anderson and husband Kevin V., Greentown; a son Harry Keith Conaway and wife Melinda Jane, Russiaville; two sisters, Wilma Snipes, Kempton and Helen Agnew, Kokomo; six grandchildren, Joseph Anderson and wife Kim, Kristen Sparks and husband Chase, Christopher Anderson and wife Hannah, Brittney Shaffer and husband Kurt, Jr., Haleigh Conaway, and Caroline Conaway; four great-grandchildren, Gracynn and Josiah Anderson, Braxton Sparks, and Iris Shaffer; a sister-in-law, Margie Thorp, Tipton. Carolyn is preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Darlene Conaway; a brother, Sam Thorp; four sisters, Mary Snow, Edith Bryd, Sarah Yeary, and Joan Barrick Scalf.

Funeral services for Carolyn will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23 at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S 00 EW, Kokomo, Indiana with Pastor Chris Duncan presiding. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, all at the church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Hamilton County. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
