Carol L. Davenport

Carol L. Davenport, 68 of Tipton died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo after a 14-year battle with cancer. She was born in Tipton County on December 14, 1942 to William E. and Wilma (Bitner) Wood. She married Philip L. Davenport on April 25, 1981, and he survives.

Carol worked in the accounting department at Delco in Kokomo for 29 years and 10 months and retired from Delphi in 1999. She was a member of Tetersburg Christian Church, team captain for Tetersburg Relay for Life for 10 years and was an officer in the Tipton County Cancer Society. She served on the school board, was a Tetersburg Cemetery board member and the Willing Workers at Tetersburg Christian Church Carol was a graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1960, and attended Indiana University, Kokomo.

Survivors include her husband, Philip; four children, Steve (Dee) Everman, Noblesville, Ric (Carol) Everman, Mooresville, Brad (Betty) Davenport, Sharpsville, Angela (Paul) Ferguson, Tipton; eight grandchildren, Alex Everman, Alisha Everman, Courtney Everman, Austin Dickey, Ashley (Tim) Dunn, Jason Burnette, Tricia (Jason) Harris, Craig (Loveisa) Ferguson; nine great-grandchildren, Noah Dunn, Emma Dunn, Jordan Burnette, Colton Burnette, Kailie Burnette, Keegan Burnette, Elizabeth Harris, Natalie Harris, Kevin Ferguson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Wood.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Mangold and Joe Messick presiding. Burial will be in Tetersburg Cemetery with Joe Tidler officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
