C. Raphael "Ray" Bernard HellmannC. Raphael "Ray" Bernard Hellmann, age 93, of Orlando, Florida and
formerly of Tipton, died at Community
Hospital East, Indianapolis.
He was in
Indiana visiting relatives and friends when he
suffered a massive stroke leading to his earthly death and
beginning of his heavenly life on August 30, 2012
at 3:00 a.m.He was born December 5, 1918 in Terre
Haute to John Henry & Philomina (Bockhold) Hellmann.
Welcoming him in
heaven are his parents, eight siblings, and devoted wife of 65
years, Doris Hellmann.
Surviving Ray are 6 siblings: Helen Lustig, Gilbert Hellmann, Leo
Hellmann, Henrietta Day, Mary Joan Koors, and Patty Parr. He is also
survived by nine children: Rhea Kowardy, Rev. Dave Hellmann, Kathryn
"Katie" Lacadie, Chris Hellmann, Mariette Gamble, Frank Hellmann,
Donna Cataldo, John Hellmann and Margaret "Maggie" Renner-Hellmann.
Ray was grandfather to 13 grandchildren,
and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ray Hellmann served in the armed forces in WWII; was an active
member of the Knights of Columbus and the Third Order of St.
Francis. He spent the first half of his life in Indiana and
moved to Orlando, Florida in 1970. Ray would be best described
as a man who passionately loved God and his family.
Funeral services will be
held in Tipton, Indiana and Orlando, Florida.
The Indiana Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St.
John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton,
Indiana 46072. Mass will be officiated by Rev. Dave Hellmann at
11:00 am on Saturday, September 1.
Visitation will be
from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at St. John's with a wake service
at 7:45 p.m. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of
the arrangements.
His family wishes to thank

his final weeks.
