Betty J. StoopsBetty J. Stoops, 87, Tipton, died Thursday June 3, 2010 at Autumnwood Village in Tipton.  She was born December 2, 1922 in Kokomo, to James and Edith (Barnett) Morrow and lived there until 1960.  She married Willard M. White, Jr. in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1965.  Betty then married Robert L. Stoops in 1967 and he later preceded her in death in 1979.She was a telephone operator for Indiana Bell in Kokomo. Betty was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women,  Embroidery Circle, Tipton County Concert Society and enjoyed being a volunteer at Tipton Hospital.She is survived by five children, Bill White and wife Andy, Tipton, Sherry Richardson, Florida, Ken Stoops, Maryland, DeeAnn Peterson and husband Tom, Oklahoma, Jane Harshman and husband Bob, Ft. Wayne; one sister, Dorothy Horwitz, California; two brothers, Jim Morrow and wife Peggy, Kokomo, Don Morrow and wife Jane, Kokomo; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by one son, Jack White; two brothers, John "Jack" Morrow and Paul Morrow and 1 great-granddaughter.Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 7 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with her funeral following at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Collier presiding.   Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset Memory Garden, Kokomo.Memorial contributions may be made to the Fred Calhoun/Bill White Science Scholarship c/o the Tipton County Foundation, P.O. Box 412, Tipton, IN, 46072.
