Betty M. Head

Betty M. HeadBetty M. Head, 87 of Tipton died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013  at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born in Cicero, Indiana on April 6, 1926 to Francis Jackson and Howard Beck.  Betty married Robert N. Head in 1964 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1990.Betty worked as a nurse several years at Tipton County Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1992.  She had attended Tipton High School, Methodist Nursing School and Indiana University, Kokomo campus.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  After retirement she enjoyed volunteering at Autumnwood Village and playing in bridge clubs.Betty is survived by three daughters, Karen C. Head and husband John Burnett, Terry Pasley, and Rebecca Small and husband Jeff, all of Tipton; one son Jeffery Head, Tipton; one sister, Joan Bolds of Tipton; five grandchildren, Adam Kappesser, Tiffany Head, Emily Head, Shane Small and Dustin Small.She was preceded in death by one son, Nicholas Head and one sister, Phyllis Dunham-Ballenger.A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday August 22nd at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton with Rev. Christopher Shocklee presiding.  Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.Memorial donations may be made to St. John's School, 323 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
