Betty L. Forsythe, 80 of Huntertown, Indiana and formerly of Tipton, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Fort Wayne. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana on January 26, 1938 to Mearl & Venus (Mitchell) Swisher. On June 3, 1956 she married Bill Joe Forsythe. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2007.
Betty graduated from Eastern High School in Greentown class of 1956. She was a cook for Tri-Central High School before retiring in 1990. Betty was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Windfall and also attended church at Pathway Community Church in Fort Wayne. She was a former member of the Windfall Home Economics Club, Tipton County Historical Society, and Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by three children: Linda Marie Hinkle and husband Lloyd R., Huntertown, Indiana, Diana Elaine Parr and husband Daniel J. Chalfie, Indianapolis, and William M. “Bill” Forsythe and wife Kimberly J., Tipton; a brother, Roger Swisher and wife Betsy, Ft. Wayne; three grandchildren, Nicole M. Parr, Katie M. Davis and husband George, and Lindy E. Forsythe; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Timmons, Makayla Hinkle-Gumbel, Jax White, and Hunter Green. Betty was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda M. Hinkle-Gumbel.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, December 15 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Markins presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions in Betty’s honor may be made to Our Master’s Basket food pantry at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 421 Ash Street, Tipton, Indiana 46072.
