Beth Mundell, 85, of Tipton and formerly of Silver Lake, passed away peacefully with her loving daughters by her side on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at IU Health Tipton Hospital.
Beth was born in Tipton on February 6, 1940, to Kenneth W. Achenbach and Anita G. (Beaver) Achenbach. On June 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, Thomas E. Mundell at West Street Christian Church. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving marriage that lasted until Tom’s passing on January 1, 2011.
She was a 1958 graduate of Tipton High School. Beth enjoyed ballet dancing in her younger years. Beth and Tom shared a deep love of the outdoors, especially spending time fishing and enjoying the companionship of their beloved dogs, Kaylee and Bella. She spent numerous hours watching Tom Trap Shoot as well as attending several auctions. One of her favorite times was her “heart to heart” life conversations with family and friends. Beth was an avid fan of her grandchildren, watching them participate in their sporting events. Her love of sports certainly included the I.U. Basketball team. Facebook was another way she kept up with the great-grandchildren! Watching them grow, she was just amazed at how quickly they were growing up and how cute they were getting! She will miss them terribly!
Beth found her passion in healthcare administration, working in billing at Tipton Hospital and Hamilton Heart and Cardiology. After relocating to Silver Lake, she continued her work at Kosciusko Family Healthcare and later at Kosciusko Community Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 2011.
She is survived by her daughters, Christina (Darrell) Elston and Stacie (Jim) Shaffer; grandchildren Lindsay (Zach) Timm, Bryan (Laken) Elston, Derek (Caroline) Elston, Aubree Elston, Jordan (Brittany) Shaffer, and Wes (Rose) Mundell; and great-grandchildren Elliannah, Kennedy and Maverick Timm, Chipper Elston, Parker and Emmy Elston and Bryce, Braxton and Jace Shaffer, and a dear friend Charlotte. Beth also leaves behind her beloved dog, Gracie Jane. The family is thankful for the foster care given to Gracie during Beth’s illness.
Funeral services will be on Monday, April 21, at 3:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tipton County Humane Society, P.O. Box 237, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
