Barbara A. Spivey, 82 of Tipton died at 4:53 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at I.U. Health North Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born in Indianapolis on November 25, 1930 to Edgar Leroy & Minnie (Manlove) Griggs. She married George Spivey on December 14, 1958, he preceded her in death on March 8,1994.

Barbara was a homemaker and a member of the Ash Street Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed country music gatherings.

Barbara is survived by three children, Larry Griggs, Kokomo; Cathy Featherstone and husband Paul, Muncie; Robert Spivey and wife Linda, Windfall; nine grandchildren, Odis Griggs, Tony Griggs, Steve Anderson, David Anderson, Shannon Smith, Robin Crittendon, Cory Griggs, Aaron Featherstone, and Rebekah Featherstone; six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Issac, Courtney, Jasmine, and Tyler; a brother, Wiley Griggs, Kokomo; three step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three children, Dennis Griggs, Lovita Sue (Spivey) Anderson, Loretta Gail Spivey; five brothers, Carl, Howard, Harry, Floyd and Fred Griggs; three sisters, Bessie Pate, Esther Bills and Mary Griggs.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5 at Ash Street Wesleyan Church, 540 Ash Street, Tipton with Rev. Logan Westrick presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.. Friday at the church. Arrangements were made through Young-Nichols Funeral Home.
