Asa Waldo SeawellAsa Waldo Seawell, 95, Independence, Missouri, and formerly of Windfall, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in Independence.  He was born September 4, 1913 in Putnam, North Carolina to Asa Carlton & Laura Delilah (Matthews) Seawell.  On September 5, 1941 he married Dorcas Naomi Hinshaw and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2007.He was a minister in the Friends Church for nearly 50 years, serving churches in North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio and Indiana, retiring in 1980.  He was a member of the Tipton County Ministerial Society.He is survived by five children, Esther  Kirkham and husband John, West Palm Beach, Florida, Stephen Seawell and wife Jane, Wichita, Kansas, Judy Zeikle and husband Charles, Independence, Missouri, Matt Seawell and wife Beth, Greentown, and Al Timothy Seawell and wife Carol, Parkesburg, Pennsylvania; one sister, Reatha Watson, McCain, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren, Marwin Kirkham, Elaine Kirkham Polania, Jan Seawell Reckers, Anthony Zeikle, Sarah Zeikle Bledsoe, Meghan Zeikle, Cami Seawell Thomas, Cheryl Seawell, Cara Seawell Tarrh, Ryan Seawell, Jeremy Seawell, Lindsey Seawell, Brandon Seawell and Erin Seawell.  He also has ten great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one brother and seven sisters.His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Revs. John Clark  and Chris Ellis presiding.  Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
