Anna C. FriendAnna C. Friend, 71, Kempton, died at 2:44 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Tipton Hospital. She was born September 18, 1937 in Scottsville, Kentucky to Earlin & Naoma (Frost) Carter.  On September 1, 1996 she married Stan Friend and he survives.  She was retired from Lucent Technologies.Survivors besides her husband include her mother, Naoma Carter, Tipton; four children, Jerry Max Phifer, Jr., Tipton, Timothy L. Phifer, Smyrna, Tennessee, Jamie R. "Jay" Phifer, Kokomo, and Jodi Davis and husband Larrie, Warsaw, Indiana; five step-children, Scott Friend and wife Carolyn, Kempton, Sam Friend and wife Amy, Tipton, Chip Friend and wife Nicole, Tipton, Christy Friend, Tipton, and Shay Dell and husband Todd, Tipton.Anna is also survived by four brothers and sisters, Sue Tidler and husband Joe, Englewood, Florida, Nell Jean Lowry and husband Don, Kokomo, Earlin Carter and wife Kathy, Kempton, and Jim Carter, Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Jamie Davis, Abbie Davis, Ben Davis, Jalyn Phifer, Maggie Phifer, Max Phifer, and Kylie Landrum; seven step-grandchildren, Lindsay Friend, Nathan Friend, Shawn Friend, Kayla Friend, Gracie Friend, Brody Dell and Bailey Perrin; seven great-grandchildren.No services are planned at this time.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2723 S.
