Agnes M. Massey

Agnes M. MasseyAgnes M. Massey, 98, of Tipton, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at Tipton Hospital.  She was born February 12, 1912 in Tipton to Edward and Susan (Schmitt) Altherr.  She married Myrel Dean Massey on October 18, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1995.She was a homemaker.  Agnes was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Alter Rosary Society. She enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking, and traveling.  She was a WAVE in the Navy during WWII.She is survived by one son, David E. Massey, Tipton; two sisters, Martha Coppock, Tipton and Dee Hoose, Elwood.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Altherr and Paul Altherr and two sisters, Katherine Kritch and Mary Gootee.Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Burial will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where a rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John's School, 323 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
